Ventech China is glad to announce the completion of the multi-million dollars financing to Surfing Tech, the autonomous driving data solution provider.

Founded in June 2017, Surfing Tech is headquartered in Beijing and is committed to provide automated driving-related training datasets to public. In addition to the autopilot dataset, Surfing Tech offers autonomous driving vehicle solutions in terms of on multi-sensor data fusion, multi-sensor data labeling, and partial autonomous vehicle refitting.

Graduated from top universities, the founding team members are experienced at well-known artificial intelligence companies in China and abroad. Edison Ho, founder and CEO, is a dedicated entrepreneur with years of research experience in big data and artificial intelligence field. Dr. Shaopeng TANG, co-founder and graphic expert, graduated from Waseda University and experienced at Intel and NEC. Dr. Lanying CHENG, co-founder and voice expert, graduated from the Institute of Acoustics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, used to serve at Nuance. Emily Zhang, Co-founder and serves as Vice President, graduated from Peking University and experienced in Microsoft Settle and Beijing for years.  She takes charge of Marketing and Fund Raising at current stage. In early 2018, Professor Andreas Geiger, head of the Automated Visual Group at the University of Tübingen and Max Planck Institute (MPI), Germany, has served as the chief scientist of Surfing Tech.

Under the leadership of the chief scientist Professor Andreas Geiger, Surfing Tech provides clients with complete autonomous vehicle data solutions. All 3D and 2D data can be simultaneously labeled by the 3D point cloud annotation platform, which is developed by Surfing Tech independently. Distinguished from other labeling schemes for pure point cloud data on the market, Surfing Tech is one of the few companies that is capable to provide 3D to 2D synchronous labeling solutions worldwide. At present, 3D - 2D synchronous labeling is the main labeling method for leading autonomous driving companies such as Google Waymo and General Cruise. Domestic comparable companies are relatively less involved, not to mention that fewer domestic companies can provide such service. Furthermore, Surfing Tech provides a strict collection of data set of labeling and quality inspection process. The inspection of the data sets requires 3 steps inspection for quality check, and the data accuracy rate reaches 99%.

Compared to other dataset providers, autopilot-related R&D algorithms and autonomous design data solutions are the competitive advantages of Surfing Tech. Presently on the autonomous related data market, the market size is expected to reach at least $10 billion US per year. Google Waymo spends hundred million dollars solely on the collection and labeling of autonomous data every year.

In addition, dozens of voice and facial databases are available on the Surfing Tech platform, such as 5000 hours of voice datasets and 3D facial datasets of 10,000 individuals, the large single-item databases are a basis of accumulation capability. At the current stage, Surfing Tech is cooperating closely with leading autonomous driving vehicle companies in Silicon Valley. It is worth to mention that in addition to serve  some well-known domestic A.I. companies, more than half of clients are overseas.

As Surfing Tech’s leading investor, Eric Huet, managing partner of Ventech China, said: "As the market size for big data and A.I. industries is climbing and players are entering, the market demand for high-quality dataset R&D services will continue to grow. We believe that the extensive experience in the A.I. data industry and strong business development capabilities of Surfing Tech will help the company stand out among its competitors.
