Pintech started its business in June 2015 as a business unit of Jimubox Holdings Limited. Pintech has been operating substantially as a stand-alone company since September 2016. The company offers its services to a range of sectors including online travel service, e-commerce, telecommunication, online education, software as a service (SaaS) platforms and financial technology, according the company’s website. It connects business partners and financial partners on its open platform and enable them to provide financial services to end users efficiently.

The total revenue of the company was RMB 568.7 million (US$ 90.7 million) in 2017, leaped nearly nine times on a year-on-year basis from RMB 54.9 million in 2016, The company became profitable in the first quarter of 2018 with a net income of RMB14.6 million (US$2.3 million), reversing from a net loss of RMB35.5 million (US$5.1 million) in the first quarter of 2017.

The company raised $44.3 million for its IPO after pricing its 3.725 million shares at $11.88 per share. The stock price increased by 6% for its 1stday trading.

According to global management consulting firm Oliver Wyman, the non-traditional financial institutions’ assets under management are expected to grow to RMB19.6 trillion (US$3.1 trillion) by the end of 2022, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 27.9%.
