Eric is the founder and a Managing Partner at Ventech China. He has been based in China since 2008 (Beijing and now Shanghai).
While based in Europe, he invested in start-up companies including Musiwave (sold to Openwave), Clendra (sold to BMC software), Virtools (sold to Dassault Systems), I-Base (sold to Publicis), Inmac Wstore (sold to Systemax Inc.), b-process (sold to Ariba), Believe and several other promising companies.
Previously, Eric had 12 years of operational experience in marketing, sales and country management for independent enterprise software vendors. He held key sales positions in the early years of three software companies: Business Objects, Natsystems and Uniplex, which all enjoyed very strong growth and a successful international development. From 1997 to 2000, Eric has built a strategic consulting franchise dedicated to software enterprises and Internet companies. During this time, he worked with venture capital firms, helped them to manage their portfolio companies and carried out in depth investment due diligences.
Eric Huet holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy (Sorbonne, Paris, France) and graduated from Harvard Business School (GMP).
James Jin is a Managing Partner of Ventech China, together with Eric Huet, they lead Ventech China invest in Internet, consumer finance, fin-tech and big data.
Before joining Ventech China, in 2005, James co-founded the CMHJ Partners, anchored by China Merchant Group, focusing on investing in high-tech start-ups. Prior to that, James was the general manager of a Silicon Valley based start-up, which later on was acquired by a Private Equity Fund.
Before going to the US, he was responsible for marketing & sales of five operating departments at Eastman Kodak China.
James holds an M.B.A. degree of the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, as well as the Master of Science degree in Computer Science, California State University.
In 2021, Curt joined as a Managing Partner of Ventech China, together with Eric Huet and James Jin, they lead Ventech China investing in Consumer Markets, Fin-tech and Big Data, focusing on the fast-growing Chinese Consumer Class.
Since joining Coca-Cola USA in 1983, Curt has served a wide range of executive positions in the USA and a number of ASEAN countries. Curt was President of The Coca-Cola Greater China, Korea & Mongolia Business Unit (TCCC GC & K BU) starting in 2016. Curt has been named to the Forbes Top Ten influential leaders list in the Middle East for six consecutive years. In 2012, his MENA Business Unit was awarded The Woodruff Cup, an award recognizing top company performance.
Curt sits on the Board of the Indiana University Foundation and Kelley Business School Dean’s Advisory Council and was recently awarded the Indiana University Distinguished Alumni Service Award recognizing Indiana’s top alumni accomplishments in their field of endeavor.
Curt holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the Indiana University Kelley School. He is a graduate of the Executive Development Programs at Stanford University and the Wharton School.
Harvey Yang is focusing on the investments in enterprise service and application technology.
Before Ventech China, Harvey was in charge of venture loan business in a noted commercial bank. Prior to that, Harvey was with Fosun International as an executive director, where he was focusing on strategic investment and acquisition opportunities in consumption and application technology sectors.
Harvey started his career as a founding member of the investment dept in Sumavision Group, which is one of the largest digital cable-TV system providers in China (SZ: 300079).
Harvey holds a MBA degree from Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business and a bachelor’s degree of Electronic Science and Technology from TianJin University.
Michelle is closely supporting fundraising execution, investor relationship management, strategic development and cover investments in consumer sector.
Before joining in Ventech China, she had worked for a Singapore-based private equity, CMIA Capital Partners, since 2012, investing in the growth capital of China and SEA in consumer, e-commerce, and TMT sectors. Among the period, she was also relocated to China since 2015 (Shanghai) to mainly cover the investment business in China. Previously, Michelle had 8 years of industry experience in data mining, statistics analysis and marketing strategy for one of top telecom operators (Taiwan Mobile) in Taiwan, independent enterprise software vendor (SPSS) and local consultancy firm. During this time, Michelle worked with the corporate, banking and insurance company, to well statistically analyze consumer behavior and carried out in depth marketing segment strategy.
Michelle holds an MBA from National University of Singapore and Korea University, where she was rewarded NUS & Ms Ferguson scholarship. Michelle also holds a Bachelor of Information Management degree from the Yuan Ze University, Taiwan.
Qin Chen joined Ventech China in 2017. Qin is responsible for the supervision of middle & back office as well as the coordination of investment, accounting & auditing, and liaison between the front office and the administration of the fund based in Europe.
Qin worked in Japan at KDD Group, a Fortune Global 500 in her early career. After which she joined the POLA in 2004, a leading cosmetics Japanese company and was responsible for business development of China market. In 2007, she joined BeauBeau, one of the largest cosmetics networks in China, and led the website operation and marketing team on imported cosmetics brands. Meanwhile, she was responsible for the online & offline retail and wholesale Japanese cosmetics variety store. She was later on responsible for corporate management, strategic planning and financing. In 2012, she joined the leading media group and responsible for the group administration.
Qin studied in Japan in 1989, she holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Japanese Language and Culture and the Teaching Certificate in Japanese Language. She graduated from the Executive Program of EMBA of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. She was awarded the title of “World Expo Star” at the Shanghai World Expo.
Eunice Wang is responsible to client relationship and related professional services. She is also engaged in public relation and networking events.
Prior to Ventech China, Eunice was a senior consultant in Deloitte China, focusing on M&A advisory, due diligence, investment feasibility study, and extend network with top-tier VC/PE in China, investment institution in MNCs and SOEs.
Eunice holds a B.S. in Economics from University College London (UCL).
In 2022, Mao joined Ventech China consumer team, focusing on Consumer Products, Consumer Technology, and Big Data. Also, during his time as an undergraduate, Mao led and engaged in several signature projects for entrepreneurs and venture groups in Boston.
As a financial modeling analyst and data analyst, Mao developed and finetuned all the financial models for a fintech startup in Boston in 2019. His pricing model eliminated a common industry error and improved the company’s investment portfolio IRR. Also, Mao automated all the financial models and developed machine learning algorithms to prepare the business for large cohorts of future customers.
Mao holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Northeastern University D’Amore-McKim School of Business. He is a graduate of the Master of Business Administration program at Johns Hopkins University.
Chris Tan joined Ventech China’s investment team in 2023, covering technology, industrial and SaaS sectors, and he had supported investment decision making of various deals in automotive, new energy and semiconductor areas. Before joining Ventech, he worked in both investment bank and corporate, specialized in industry research, due diligence, and financial modeling.
Chris Tan holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree from National University of Singapore and a Master in Management degree from HEC Paris.
Karen Pan is one of the main members of the consumer sector research team and is responsible for investment research work, including report writing and post-investment management. Karen Pan joined Ventech China in 2023 and has since gained extensive investment research experience in both the consumer and technology teams at Ventech China.
Karen Pan holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Purdue University and a Master's degree in Finance and Management from the University of East Anglia.
Anna is in charge of office administration. Anna has more than 10 years practical experience in administrative work. Prior to joining Ventech China, she worked at China Minsheng Investment Group where she was responsible for general office operations management, participated in the establishment and improvement of company policy, coordinated communication between departments, protected company intellectual property rights and supporting marketing activities, etc. Previously, Anna worked as an assistant to the general manager of TPV’s color TV division, where she was responsible for the general manager’s daily schedule and sales data summary and analysis.
Anna holds a bachelor arts degree from Tongji University in Shanghai.
Daniel Tang joined Ventech China in 2011, is an experienced early-stage investor and entrepreneur focusing on blockchain and Fintech area.
Prior to entrepreneur and investor career, Daniel served as General Manager and Chief Analyst at Analysis International company. He served as a partner at China Growth Capital before, responsible for overseeing early-stage ventures and blockchain investments,invested in more than 30 portfolio companies. At Ventech China, Daniel invested startups including Jumei, ByeCity and WiseMedia,etc.
Daniel holds a master's degree in electrical engineering from Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications.
Alain is a Managing Partner and founded Ventech in 1998. He is driving investments in Internet, Media and Mobile. He serves as a board member for Augure, Believe, Curse, Eyeka, Mamsy, Oktogo, Shopmium, SoJeans, Viadeo, Webedia.
Alain has achieved numerous successful exits such as MeilleurTaux (first listed then sold to Group Caisse d’Epargne), Alapage (sold to France Telecom), Cyrano (IPO), Com6-Busines&Decision (IPO), Genesys (IPO), Internext (sold to Primus Telecom),and Racing Live (sold to ESPN).
Alain joined the private equity sector in 1986. He founded 3 management companies and has built rich experience in various types of operations (venture, expansion, buy-out & turnaround) as well as on multiple geographies, during multiple economic cycles.
Alain Caffi holds a Master of Sciences from the University of Kansas, Lawrence (USA). He is also a C.P.A. (Chartered Public Accountant)
Jean is a Managing Partner with Ventech, and has been investing in the Mobile and Infrastructure sectors since 2000. He brings to the team his expertise in this area as well as knowledge of these industries' business models and key actors. Jean serves as a board member for AdValem, Ateme, Crocus technology, Ekinops (EKI), Ogury, and Withings. He was instrumental in many of Ventech’s investments, including Altitude Télécoms (ILD), Arteris (QCOM), Musiwave (MSFT), Muzicall (RNWK), and Wengo (VIV).
Jean began his career in the USA (AT&T Bell Labs) and South America (Telecom Argentina), and then went on to develop new business opportunities within the ALTRAN Group in the Semiconductors and IP Networks sectors starting in 1997. He also co-founded a subsidiary dedicated to strategic due diligence for Private Equity investors.
Jean Bourcereau graduated from Ecole Polytechnique with a degree in engineering and also holds a degree from Ecole Nationale Supérieure des télécommunications. Based in Paris, Jean is married to Laetitia and is a proud father to Louis, Martin, and Eva.
Claire joined Ventech as General Partner in 2008. She focuses on Internet/Mobile Services and Software. She currently sits on the boards of Bonitasoft, Vestiaire Collective and Stickyads in France and Asgoodasnew in Germany.
Claire started her career at Crédit Lyonnais in project financing activities in France and in the USA. She later participated in the creation and development of the Venture Capital department of Crédit Lyonnais (which later became Crédit Agricole Private Equity) from 2000 to 2005, leading their investments in companies such as Musiwave (sold to Openwave), and Meiosys (sold to IBM).
In 2005 Claire co-funded the “Infrastuctures” fund for AXA Private Equity, handling investments in the Utilities sector (energy, water, waste) and particularly in the renewable energies in Europe.
Claire is an electronics engineer (Institut Supérieur d’Electronique de Paris) and graduated from ESSEC. Claire supports the non-profit organization Ashoka, which allows her to meet and collaborate with passionate social entrepreneurs.
Emmanuelle joined Ventech in 2011.
Previously, Emmanuelle was the Corporate Secretary at NPEIM in 2007 and was responsible for finance, legal, tax and middle/back office matters.
From 2001-2007, Emmanuelle served as a Corporate Secretary at DWS Investments, the asset management arm of Deutsche Bank, France.
Emmanuelle began her career in 1988 at CCF (now HSBC Group) as a Controller, before joining the asset management business in 1992, where she served in both the Controlling and Tax & Legal departments.
Emmanuelle graduated from ESC Rouen and holds a Master's Degree in Management Control from Paris Dauphine University. Based in Ville d'Avray, Emmanuelle has 3 'grow-up' children.
Christian has been a Managing Partner with Ventech since 2013 and brings his 16-year experience as an investor in innovation. With offices in Munich and Paris, he leads Ventech investment activities in the DACH region. He serves as a board member for Picanova and TV Smiles.
As a partner with TVM Capital (Munich-Boston, 1998-2008) and with OMNES Capital (Paris, 2009-2013), he led numerous investments, such as Tantau Inc. (listed on NASDAQ), T.I.M.E. AG (acquired by Genesys), Telesnap GmbH/Stuttgart (acquired by Netwise), CoreOptics Inc./Nuremberg (acquired by Cisco), Silicon Hive B.V. (acquired by Intel), Netviewer AG (acquired by Citrix), Arteris Inc. Prior to joining the VC industry in 1998, Christian worked for 10 years in Europe's Telecommunications industry as Head of Strategic Bus Dev and Product Management in Siemens' Public Networks Group.
Tero has been Venture Partner with Ventech since 2016 and brings operational, entrepreneurial and investment experience in innovation. With an office in Helsinki and Paris, he covers Ventech’s investment activities in the Nordic countries, Finland, Sweden and Denmark.
Most recently Tero founded and was the CEO of PulseOn (2012-2015), a connected wearables company specializing in optical sensors and algorithms.
Tero holds a Msc. in Industrial Economics from Université de Genève and an MEB from Solvay Business School, Université libre de Bruxelles. Tero has lived and studied or worked in Belgium, Switzerland, UK, Russia, USA, and Finland.
During his times as an investor (1998 – 2006) for Sitra and as General Partner with Nordic Venture Partners he led numerous early stage Nordic investments such as u-Nav Microelectronics (acquired by Atheros), CRF Health (acquired by Vitruvian Partners), Continuent (acquired by WMware), and MAC (acquired by Meconet). He has also held several Investment Committee and Advisory Board positions in European and US VC funds. During his tenure with Nokia (2006 – 2012) he held leadership positions in Corporate Development, Venturing and M&A. Earlier in his career he worked in business development for Boeing Corp.
Audrey Soussan joined Ventech in 2011. As a Principal, she identifies and analyses new IT opportunities, contributes to investments and follow-up of technological companies. She monitors seed pocket investments.
Audrey graduated from Université Paris Dauphine and ESSEC, and benefits from first-hand experience in Venture Capital at DN Capital in London. She is a Co-Managing Director at GirlsInTech Paris, an organization focusing on the empowerment of women in technology. She is also a mentor at the Founder Institute, a global entrepreneur training and startup launch program.
Stephan Wirries joined Ventech’s investment team for the European markets in 2011. He particularly focuses on managing the dealflow, opportunity sourcing, analysis and due diligence. Stephan is also tracking our seed investments in Germany.
Stephan graduated in Strategy / Information Systems from WU Vienna and FH Flensburg. He also studied abroad at Bocconi University and Copenhagen Business School. Prior to joining Ventech, Stephan had a first venture capital experience at e.ventures.
